Martial Vivot to Offer French-Based Brands for Father’s Day
The menswear trade, on turning the Midtown salon into a showroom for French makers trying to reach America.
What MR Magazine reported
MR Magazine reported in May 2017 that Martial Vivot had partnered with French Wink — an American company dedicated to bringing French creative brands into the US market — to host a curated group of French men’s and unisex labels at the Salon Pour Hommes in Manhattan, from 12 to 18 June, opening with a party on 12 June.
The brands ranged across fashion, technology, travel accessories, modern art and food, and included Saint James, Epsilon Vega, Hades, Aux Corps Anonymes and 727 Sailbags. Vivot framed the week as repayment: he had arrived from France with no clientele and no brand, and wanted to extend to other French makers the help he had once been given.
I wanted to offer my clients something luxurious and special that’s also not available anywhere else in the U.S. in honor of Father’s Day.
As someone who had to build a clientele and brand from scratch when I moved from France to New York City, I truly understand that struggle and would like to pay forward the same kindness that I initially experienced from a select few.
